Responsibilities

Producer

  • Led a 9 person team and kept the project organized throughout our 6 month development period

  • Used burndown charts to manage tasks and progress

  • Planned and led team meetings and dinners

  • Headed meetings with Professor Jeremy Bond to update on our progress

  • Organized feedback and divvied up tasks

  • Communicated with art, design, and programming teams to design innovative game elements and optimize quality for better player experiences.

Lead Designer

  • Designed the level using Unity tile maps

  • Designed the combat mechanics

  • Communicated with artists to ensure the art and animations would work as intended

  • Communicated with programmers to ensure combat and other systems were implemented as intended

  • Designed the in game UI and menus

QA Analyst

  • Playtested new builds frequently and recorded bugs

  • Organized internal and external playtests

  • Recorded feedback from playtesters

  • Compiled bugs by priority using burndown charts

Main Takeaways

  • Don't hang on to ideas that aren't working well for the game. Forcing an idea is never good

  • Always communicate. If there is not enough chatter within the team, it is up to the producer to get the conversations flowing

  • Always playtest, especially before making a commit

  • Keeping the project organized will save you time in the long run
