Rubble Rumble is a first person shooter where players create the environment they play in. Place cover, vantage points, and hazards to screw over opponents and ensure victory!

Responsibilities

  • Used Parsec to playtest with teammates over the internet due to COVID-19

  • Recorded all playtests to ensure nothing was missed during initial note taking

  • Recorded and tracked bugs using Trello

  • Prioritized bugs using the green, yellow, and red color system

QA Analyst

Producer

  • Headed meetings with industry mentors from High Moon Studios

  • Created a full road map of the project to make sure we were hitting our goals for each sprint

  • Organized and tracked progress of all 11 members of team

  • Used Trello for managing tasks

  • Led internal meetings with professors for progress updates

Lead Designer

  • Designed hazards such as the rock lobster, poisonous plant, crystal turret, and vanishing burst

  • Designed both magic missile and rapid fire power-ups

  • Designed and concepted the score screen

  • Worked closely with the programming team to ensure features were being implemented as they were designed

  • Communicated with the art team to make sure the hazard models represented the function of the item

  • Handled all of the design documentation of the project​

  • Implemented environment art for levels and menus

Main Takeaways

  • Creating a roadmap for the project was extremely useful for monitoring our schedule

  • Playing towards individual team member’s strengths and dividing work evenly and efficiently promotes teamwork and fosters efficient development

  • Playtesting as a team is crucial when developing a multiplayer game. It is harder to find bugs when playing by yourself
